Subject: [CA-GOLDRUSH-L] MOST WANTED: Andrew Jackson MARSHALL
Seeking information about Andrew Jackson MARSHALL. I have information from 1859+
in Oregon. There is a short biography for him in "An Illustrated History of The
State of Oregon" by Rev. H. K. Hines, D. D. pgs 298-299. Chicago: The Lewis
Publishing Company, 1893. Regarding his CA years, it says that in 1849 he sailed
for China, but after learning about the gold in CA, he changed his mind and went
there. He mined at Mokelumne Hill, Downieville, and the Feather & Yuba Rivers.
Had a store at Pine Grove and another at St. Louis, but was burned out. Did some
mining at Yreka and later worked for the Adams Express Company as a messenger.
[There is a St Louis on French Prairie in Oregon, I don't know where Pine Grove
was.] Any suggestions anyone? Jackie (
