Seeking info on Bertram Flincy WRIGHT and Josephine (?) WRIGHT. He was b abt. 1850 New York(?) and may have lived in Newark, Licking Co, OH before arriving in San Francisco c1870. A BF WRIGHT was on the ship Andalusia arriving in SF from NY in 1860, but I have no confirmation this is my BF WRIGHT Birthplace source: 1900 Solano Co CA Census roll #113 lists birthplace of Bertram and wife Josephine. All their children were born in CA before 1880, in Quincy, Plumas Co, or other counties. Bertram WRIGHT was an avid artist who enjoyed painting landscapes and scenes from nature, particularly birds. Bertram and Josephine were entertainers, in the era of vaudeville. They performed in any venue they could to earn money, even entertaining on the sidewalk for pennies. Bertram changed his name to Bertram Samuel WRIGHT, just like he named his son. Josephine (?) WRIGHT may have been born in OH abt. 1850. By 1882 this couple has and leaves four children in the Vallejo Templar Orphanage, in Vallejo CA and are never heard from again. Their children are Bertram Samuel WRIGHT, Louise Wright MILLER, Gertrude WRIGHT, who was mentally challenged, and Pearl Wright OLSON. Reportedly their 3 daughters had no children. Perhaps someone has a missing aunt-in-law in their tree, that is a match to these two who married? Bertram and Josephine may have died in Oroville CA either before or after the children were left in the orphanage. Thanks for any connection or clues on where I could look for information about these missing ancestors! Jill Ching ( mauifun@maui.net )
