Addison J. BOUNDS, b 12 Apr 1817 Scott Co VA, d after Civil War MO? AR?, m
22 May 1843 Pike Co MO Margaret PRITCHETT, b 1826 KY, d ca 1858-1862
Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co KS, daughter of Isaac Pritchett Jr. and
Matilda Rogers. He was listed twice in the 1850 census. He and his family
were shown in the Cuivre Twp, Pike Co MO census 8 Aug 1850 and he was also
shown alone in the Placerville, El Dorado Co CA census of 23 Nov 1850. In
the latter he was age 36, born MO, miner for gold, average product of each
miner's labor per day was $4.50, he lived in a hotel and the family was
not listed with him. In Nov 1851 he resided in Placerville without his
wife. An old family letter said he remained in CA for 7 years and returned
to MO [1858]. We do not know the route nor method of transportation he
took between MO and CA. Addison J. BOUNDS was in the Civil War
(1861-1865), first thought from Pike Co MO, a saddler, maybe a civilian.
We found no proof in military and non-military records. Another source
said that he was possibly a Confederate from AR. An Addison BOUNDS of the
same age is shown in the 1870 census of Powell Grove, Bowie Co TX with a
different wife, Luanna (LuAmy) and two more children. We do not know
whether this is the same Addison. We would like to know more information
about any stage in his life. Glad to share. Zelda. (rvdubel@msn.com)
