Subject: GOLDRUSH MOST WANTED Morton BOURN
Looking for information on my great grandfather, Morton BOURN. He was
married to Nancy BOICE in Shaw's Flat, Tuolumne County, in 1854-5. He and
Nancy homesteaded in Mendicino County where he died in 1905. He had a
brother, William D. BOURN, a marshal in Modoc County, CA, and a sister S.J.
(BOURN) DAUGHERTY in New Haven, MO. His gravestone and census records
indicates he was born in Frediricksburg, Virginia in 1830. According to
family stories/legend he moved to Missouri and eventually ended up in
California. I've not been able to confirm when he arrived in California or
from where, nor have I been able to confirm his birth in VA in 1830. Any
help would be appreciated.
