Subject:[CA-GOLDRUSH-L] MOST WANTED: Darwin Leonard HAYWARD
Our family story about Darwin Leonard HAYWARD is that he came to CA with the
HOOD Wagon Train in 1846 from PA. I'm just starting to work on this family. He
married in 1881 Kate DOUGHERTY. They raised a family in or near Santa Rosa, CA.
He was born about 1828 in PA, so we wonder if he had a first wife & family. He
was pretty old (53) when he married Kate and they had 6 children. He died 6 Nov
1902, but I'm not sure exactly where, Santa Rosa? Since this is all based on
family tradition, I'm not writing anything in ink yet. Next stop will be the
census. Is anyone else working on him? Where was he from 1846 to 1881? Can
anyone recommend where I might learn about the Hood Wagon Train? Thanks, Jackie
