Subject: GOLDRUSH MOST WANTED - DENNY
Dear People,
According to a recently discovered newspaper (Wandsworth [Surrey, England]
Borough News) obituary, published 4th October 1907, my wife's first cousin
four times removed, Jonathan DENNY (1829 - 1907), was an adventurous man
in his younger days:
'At twenty years of age, in 1849, the spirit of adventure led him to
become one of the forty-niners, as they have since become known. He went
to California, making a seven months' voyage to join in the rush for the
newly-discovered gold fields on the American continent. In 1852 he
returned to England and commenced business as a corn merchant.'
We would be very interested to 'hear' from anyone for whom this name
'rings bells'.
Yours, etc.
Geoffrey in Cambridgeshire, England.
