Subject: GOLDRUSH MOST WANTED - Jacob PRIVETT
I am trying to find out what happened to a g-g-g-grandfather of mine. His name
was Jacob PRIVETT. He was born 14 Mar 1831 in IN (?) believed to be the son of
Jacob & Mary PECK PRIVETT. Jacob m Catherine 'Violet' CHAPMAN 18 Oct 1852 in
Princeton, Gibson Co., IN. He left shortly after for the gold fields leaving his
wife behind because she was pregnant with their first child. He was never heard
from again. I have not been able to locate him on any other census records. Mary
Ellen PRIVETT was b 20 Jul 1853 in Vanderburg Co., IN. Violet waited 7 years
before remarrying. She married John Quincy Adams ROBB, a widower about 1860.
They moved to Wayne Co., shortly after their marriage moved to Wayne Co. IL . In
the spring of 1867 they moved on to Johnson Co. NE where they raised their
families and both died and are buried there. I would very much like to know if
Jacob died enroute to CA or died in one of the mining camps, possibly buried in
one of the cemeteries around some of the camps.
Any help or information I will greatly appreciate. I will be glad to share what
information I have on Jacob.
