Subject: Most Wanted - James B. SHAW
James B SHAW, known to be on this Mormon Trail Wagon Train: Third Hundred,
Jedediah M. GRANT, Captain, Departed June l7, 1847. First Fifty, Joseph B.
NOBLE, Captain, Arrived October 2, 1847. ***Third Ten, Hazen KIMBALL, Captain.
SHAW, James, born: 7 Nov 1824 in Kingston, PA, married Laura Albina ALLEN, born:
19 Sep 1829 in Greenwood, NY. Were married sometime before June 1847, and
probably in route between NY and Winter Quarters NE. Many of Laura's family were
on this train, but can only see one possible brother of James, Samuel A SHAW,
born 19 Sep 1829 Greenwood, NY, who was in the First Ten of this same wagon
train, no other infomation on him. I suspect that the families may have known
each other in NY before the journey started. Daughter of James & Laura, Laura
Elmira SHAW born 22 Jun 1847 Near Loup River, Indian Territory, NE, 5 days after
departure from Winter Quarters. Laura [daughter] married Gilbert Lafayette
Moulder DEAN 31 Jul 1864 Owens River, Tulare Co CA. Laura's mother, Laura Albina,
is buried in San Jose, Santa Clara Co, 1871, but James has been a brick wall
after Oct 1847 UT, and before and between 1824 PA. I place this family in CA
between 1847-1864.
Thank you.
