Subject: GOLDRUSH MOST WANTED
John A. McFarland - born about 1820 in Ireland. Came to America
and was living in Charles Town, Jefferson County, Virginia (Now W.Va.). He had
arrived in Gold country by the fall of 1854 and working for J. C. Ham. By 1857,
he was in Hangtown. He had not written home for newly two years when he wrote
his wife in 1857 only to find she had died. No record of him after that. His
children raised by his in-laws. Any help appreciated.
