JOHN GARVIN MCBEE- TWIN SONS?
John Garvin McBee, born 1826 in TN, died 1905 in Milo UT., Carter Co., OK: He
married his first wife, in 1846 in Nacogdoches Co., TX; He deserted her in 1851
and headed for the Gold Fields in CA. She divorced him in 1860 in Kaufman Co TX.
He married Wife #2. Amanda Melvina (Dawson) Nichols born 1824 in GA. She died in
1899 in Amador Co., CA, they married 07 December 1865 in Amador Co., CA;
Amanda posted a notice in the Amador Dispatch - Jan 19, 1867 Vol 8 #18; (Notice
- I hereby notify the public that J.G. McBee, my husband, has left my bed and
board without any provocation and I forewarn any and all person from purchasing
any property of any character whatever from my said husband; the property
consisting of stock, cattle, hogs, horses, etc, being my separate property which
I had before my marriage with said J.G. McBee. Signed: Amanda McBee.)
Family Legend says that John Garvin McBee left "TWIN SONS" in CA when he went
back to TX in about 1867- Descendants of the only marriage in California we have
found to "Amanda (Dawson) Nichols" in 1865, claim that she did not have any
twins and no children with John Garvin McBee. We are still looking for those
TWIN McBee Sons (if the story is true) and their descendants???
