Subject: GOLDRUSH MOST WANTED (PALMER/DOUGLAS/SMITH)
John PALMER and wife Margaret DOUGLAS arrived in San Francisco on the brig
Salvadora on Nov. 13, 1850. Some time later they arrived in Columbia, Tuolomne
Co. where they stayed for about 10 years. John was from New England and Margaret
was born in 1830 in Scotland, the daughter of Mary MCNEILL and Alexander
DOUGLAS. Would like to know if there is any record of John as a miner. In 1860,
Margaret divorced John and backed by depositions from friends and her own
mother, was granted a decree of divorce. Two years later she married Joseph
SMITH who was a merchant in Columbia. What references are there to the three of
them in the Columbia records?
