From: Betty Date: Sat, 28 Oct 2000 10:56:38 -0700 Subject: GOLDRUSH MOST WANTED John W. ROBB My John Weddle Robbe went to CA with The Upper Mississippi Ox Company led by Vance Davidson. The list of gold seekers was listed on page 54, of 'Goin West' by R. & A. Nelson. John W. from Savanna, Carroll County, Illinois, a member of the 1850, overland to California. My ancestor was on this list of men joining the 'Upper Mississippi Ox Company' led by Vance L. Davidson also of Savanna, Illinois. This list was included in the 'California Gold Rush Overland Diary' of Byron N. McKinstry 1850-1852. The train left March 18, 1850 from Ringwood Prairie, McHenry, McHenry County, Illinois. Most of them had three yoke of oxen for a team - a wagon covered, a tent and food. My John W. Robb was born 17 October 1814 in Virginia. He died in California 7 November 1872 (it states in a ledger that my cousin found). My quest is to find out WHERE. Betty, Ventura, CA |
