Subject: [CA-GOLDRUSH] Most Wanted: TAYLOR
Two brothers were born in ME Jonathan Corning TAYLOR abt. 1828 and Samuel Rand
TAYLOR abt. 1831, and I have a *strong* suspicion that they went to CA for the
gold rush. They were both in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia by 1854-1855, where
Jonathan was a miner and Samuel was a merchant. After Jonathan returned to the
U.S. he was in Central City CO in 1860 (again mining), back in ME in 1861 and in
Bannack MT as a miner and probate judge in 1862. Samuel stayed in Australia. I'd
love to get a confirmation of them being in CA. A possibility for Jonathan
showed up on the 1850 census in El Dorado Co CA, but I can't read the place of
birth to confirm if it could be him. Any ideas?
