Subject: [CA-GOLDRUSH] Most Wanted: WILSON
Family history has it that my gggrandfather, Oscar Fitzallan Dunwreath WILSON (b
1831 in KY) went to Grass Valley, Nevada County CA in 1850 from Clark County MO
in search of gold. (He was also known as O.F.D.) Supposedly he died in CA
because he never returned to MO. Even though he was only 19 yrs. of age in 1850,
he had a wife and 3 children. Records indicate he married Nancy Jane FRANCIS
when both were age 14; children: Amanda, James L. and Oscar F.D. Wilson Jr. When
I was in Nevada Co. for a brief time in 1983 I did find a probate for an O. F.
WILSON, deceased, March 26, 1861 and a mention of 13 mining claims. Possibly he
decided not to return to MO for some reason--maybe a family in CA?? If this
would have been my Oscar WILSON, he would have only been 30 yrs. of age in 1861.
It would be so interesting to find out what happened to this man since this has
been a family mystery for many years. Any info or suggestions where to search
will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Faye Shankle, Hayden Lake, Idaho My
